EMC Events NEPEAN & BARRHAVEN

Tuesdays: Soon to retire?

The Rideau Grandmothers invite new retirees or soon to be retirees to join their cause in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They raise funds and awareness for projects in sub-Saharan Africa that benefit grandmothers and the children in their care, who are orphaned by HIV/AIDS. The grannies in SLF projects on the ground determine the needs in their area. Some money goes for education and income-generation projects but much more is also funding food, shelter, schooling etc. Being a grandmother is not a requirement. It simply identifies the more than 200 such groups across Canada who are members of the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They also welcome part-timer helpers both men and women who are affectionately called "Grand-Others." Please visit www.grandmotherscampaign.org for more information.
