NCC closes pathway for the summer
Posted Jul 27, 2010 By Phil AmbroziakEMC News - Cyclists passing through Ottawa’s west end may want to rethink their travel plans throughout the remainder of the summer.
The National Capital Commission (NCC) recently announced the closure of a two-kilometre stretch of the Ottawa River Recreational Pathway from the section east of Carling Ave. to Britannia Park. The purpose of the closure is to accommodate construction work that, when completed, will result in a wider, more user-friendly route. Work began July 14 and is expected to wrap up in late September.
“The area being worked on stretches from Andrew Haydon Park to Britannia Park, and it’s going to complicate things because it’s happening at the same time the city has a major construction project underway on Carling Ave.,” explained Bay ward Coun. Alex Cullen.
