EMC news - Merivale High School students were sent home early on Feb. 1 thanks to work on a broken water main on Merivale Road near the intersection of Viewmount Drive.

Students were sent home just after 12 p.m. and all community use of the school and activities were cancelled for that evening.

Grade 12 student Abdel Aziz said he was excited to have the half-day off.

"They did a good job warning us though," he said, of the staff at the school.

Classmates of Aziz, Abddrham and Hussein Taha said the early dismissal didn't affect them because they live close by, but the students who took special buses had to wait in the foyer.
